At the Gryphon Group, we take pride in undertaking ventures that are difficult in order to continue to expand our capabilities.
Throughout our years of experience, there is very little that we haven't seen. We have extensive experience in federal and state loan programs, tax credit syndication and conventional financing. Our firm has worked within Brownfield and Historic Districts, incorporated “Green” design features into our developments and have partnered with non-profit entities to meet a variety of housing needs. Our knowledge base allows us to offer unique features within our properties as well as implement creative financing solutions in order to build quality developments that withstand the test of time and strengthen their respective communities for years to come.
At the Gryphon Group we have a progressive mindset which allows us to adapt to ever-changing market trends. We are perpetually learning and staying abreast on the latest market trends so that we are knowledgeable of the latest finance tools, investor funds, planning and land use trends, desired amenities, building products, compliance requirements, and more.
An example of this can be seen in 2007 when we completed one of the first “Green” affordable housing developments in the State of Michigan with grant money from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. With future developments planning for ways to continue to innovate by integration of geothermal, solar and wind power as alternative energy sources in an effort to reduce operating costs and positively impact the environment.
Our goal is to remain on the cutting edge, ensuring our developments are highly marketable to prospective tenants, an asset to the community and profitable to our investors and clients.

Timothy Hovey
Partner
Prior to forming the Gryphon Group, Timothy Hovey was managing member of The Hovey Companies. Under Tim’s leadership, The Hovey Companies portfolio doubled in size and the firm was recognized for building first-rate affordable housing developments with premium amenities. Mr. Hovey specializes in development financing, tax credits, securing investors, loan closings, construction oversight and lease-up. As an owner of several apartment communities throughout the State of Michigan, Tim is responsible for the asset management of over 1,000 apartment units.
